When you buy a new car or truck in Tennessee, you are required by law to purchase auto insurance. However, when you are an inexperienced or a relatively new driver, there are certain elements you should know about your insurance policy to make sure you get the best possible coverage for the best possible rate.

The main purpose of auto insurance is to cover the expenses for repairs and medical costs if a third party should you get into an accident that is your fault. In addition, a basic auto insurance plan will not cover non-accident claims such as damage that is caused by theft or fire. For an additional coverage cost you can add a provision to your insurance plan that will cover damage that is caused by natural disasters; that includes landslides, tornados, fires, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes.
